The DIVER lab studies the intersection of data, cognition, and values, using methods from philosophy, psychology, machine learning, and public policy. Research areas in the DIVER lab include:

• Algorithmic bias discovery & mitigation

• Ethical analyses of emerging technologies

• Policy design challenges for emerging technologies

• Goal & value influences on human cognition

• Causal discovery from observational and experimental data

• Time series analysis from complex measurements

Due to funding constraints & cut-backs, I am not currently planning to admit any new Ph.D. students in Data Science for Fall 2027.
(But I am open to collaboration with current UVA students.)
